MetaArcade, the creators of the Tunnels & Trolls mobile text adventure game started a Creator Pilot Program back in March to accept submissions for player created adventures. The response was huge, and you can still sign up to contribute. MetaArcade says that with such a great response to the program they were able to take quite a few submissions and they have published one of them already. Necropolis of Vaarh parts 1 and 2, by Stefan Jones, are now available on the app. Necropolis of Vaarh is a low level adventure that takes place across the Scorching Veldt region, and part 1 is currently available for free.
Along with the player created adventure MetaArcade has released the iconic Tunnels & Trolls adventure City of Terror to the app as well. It’s been nearly 40 years since the release of the original, which was the largest adventure written for the T&T system. The original, which included over 20 adventures spread across the city, was written by Mike Stackpole and illustrated by Liz Danforth and Robin Carter. For the mobile app City of Terror is part of the Crown of Blade adventure arc and continues along threads that include Mistywood, Road to Gull, and Sewers of Oblivion.
If you’re a fan of classic text adventures, or even choose-your-own adventure books check out the app. It’s free and was a lot of fun to play when I tried it out at GenCon a couple years back.
