There was an incredible amount of Cosplay at GenCon this year, and unfortunately would couldn’t catch it all. Here are some highlights from the con as well as thoughts on the costumes that we saw.
Every year GenCon attendees turn out in more elaborate, creative cosplay, in greater numbers than the year before. You could spend all four days at the con trying to capture images of all of them, but I didn’t have that much time, so here’s the best of what I did see.
Characters run the gamut of fandoms from movies, anime, video games, and roleplaying. There’s always quite a few comic book characters, including Spider-men, Deadpool, and a few versions of frat-boy Thor. There was even a mashup of The Dude and Bro-Thor. We didn’t attend the annual cosplay competition, but the parade was a sight to see.
Of all the cosplay, and forgive me for probably getting the name wrong, I loved the frost elf sorceress the most. The amount of detail in her costume was incredible. The best part was the crown, which you can see in the slideshow. So much time and skill went into that beautiful piece of art, it was just gorgeous.
All of it was fantastic. Cosplay has come so far since we began seeing it rise in popularity at cons. It’s honestly one of the reasons to go, and for many it is the sole reason for attending shows. Hopefully we will see more, and bring you more pictures in the future.
