Everglade Angels is an adult horror graphic novel from creators Blake Northcott (North Valley Grimoire and Fathom), Scott Lobdell (X-Men and Happy Deathday), and Roc Upchurch (Rat Queens.) The project is on Kickstarter with 26 days left as of this writing.
This stellar team is putting together a 48 page survival horror “like you’ve never seen before.” The book will be R-rated according to the creators, and from the looks of it seems to be a throwback to classic 80s horror films like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elmstreet, at least in the theme of teenagers lost in the woods with something evil stalking them. The difference here, the twist on the classic, is the teenagers are all female and from the looks of it won’t go out quite as easily as those in the movies.
According to the Kickstarter page: “When a girls softball team takes a shortcut through the Florida Everglades, they veer off the path towards a night they’ll never forget – drinking, dancing – one last hurrah before college starts and they go their separate ways. When they stumble into a trap set by a murderous cult, the stage is set for a night of blood-soaked carnage – but the cult has never dealt with victims who are ready to fight back. And while the girls might not have home field advantage, they have a game-changing surprise of their own.”
Preview art is available on the Kickstarter page without dialogue bubbles yet so you can get a look some panels. Check out the page if you’re looking for something new, or a fan of the team involved.
